STYLEWARS NEW ZEALAND CANCELLED FOR 2009
Tuesday, 28 April 2009 04:53

Sorry people but the gods that decide who lives and dies have chosen. Stylewars New Zealand has been slain by the global economy shutdown. Fuck You George Bush and your inability to control your national banking sector regulations. You have cost the world dearly and you will burn in hell for it....

Hopefully Stylewars will see you next year. Hopefully the money will have come south of the equator from our good friends in marketing land.

New Zealand is always going to be the best place to snowboard in the northern summer and will always be the best place to shoot for the northern media season so may we never be forgotten.

Cheers

Mone came to Stylewars NZ and killed the gap transfer. He then came unstuck and ended up missing out on a month of surfing in Indo.

Here is his blog from the session.

STYLEWARS NZ 2008 – NEW ZEALAND WINS THE BLEDISNOW CUP.

Taking full advantage of the warm spring South Island conditions, Stylewars has stayed true to its reputation of delivering large progressive terrain features where the sport of Snowboarding can be presented within competition format at its current evolutionary peak.

With huge kickers, transfers, quarter pipes, step ups, stair-rail sets and halfpipes, Snow Park, Wanaka has really proved itself yet again to be the best freestyle specific resort in the world and therefore a logical home for the New Zealand leg of Stylewars where today a new Grand Master was crowned and New Zealand grabbed the cup convincingly from the former Cup holding team, Australia.

Day 2 of competition - New Zealand is ahead!
Friday, 19 September 2008 22:42

The second day of competition was slowed right down with a solid ice park till after 12:00pm. Riders all went up early for the scheduled competition start time but after a few runs it was clear riders would die on the kicker set ups we had lined up on the solid ice of the morning. Massive stand outs regardless of the icy conditions were Mikey Williams (AUS), Pooch (US) and Ben Bright (AUS) all throwing down on the massive transfer into a rough icy landing. 10 mins into the judged session we stopped the comp as only a small amount of riders were crazy enough to be hitting the transfer so the comp was pushed back to the day before's smaller straight jump. A little disappointed with having to ride the same feature two days in a row a bunch of riders sat out the session and waited for the planned sun set session on the transfer.

Check the photos from the day.
